CORE GROUP POLIO PROJECTis working in Saharanpur district in 4 blocks respectively City, Sunehty, Sarsawa and Nakur. The project's main objective is to motivate polio eradication and immunization. Under our City Saharanpur 18 villages and 20 urban wards (HRA) is being covered. In this work 54CMCs, 4 BMCs, 1 MIS and 1 DMC are employed. Mobilization activities are done at theground levels which are as follows:
Polio Eradication Program
We can come to know that our program has changed this country and made it polio free as it was announced by W.H.O.on 27 March, 2014, that our country has become polio free In year 2018-19, under this program a total of 2 rounds of polio were organized, in which a total of 963822 children were immunized in the district out of which 973183 children were immunized by our organization Meerut Seva Samaj. The task was done by the following activities at ground level.
Polio Class/ Children Rally
Under this activity, children from the local schools take part to organise a group which is known as Polio class, through play we teach them how to keep cleanliness and how to prevent disease of polio is advised. 108 Polio class were done in the year 2018 – 19, till the month of 31st March 2019, in which 2160 children took part.
Bulawa Toli
Bulawa Toli is made for the reason so that more and more children must get immunized on that day. Bulawa Toli is made by gathering children between the ages of 8–10 years. These Bulawa Toli children call other children from their house so that maximum amount of children may get immunized. In year 2018–19, 108 Bulawa Toli has been made in which 1080 children had taken part till the month of March 2019.
Influencer’s Meeting
To make our program successful, influencers has a great role. To avoid resistance in any area and to promote the awareness for polio, local influencers have a great role to play. In year 2018–19, 4 block level in and 1 district level and 48 village level influencers meeting were organised, in which 251 influencers were added to our program to make awareness and help people get immunized.
R.I. STRENGTHENING PROGRAM
By the help of this program we provide medical helps in those areas in which there are no such kind of health centres. In this program we distribute medicine and other health related things by organising health camp in those areas which are out reached. Some children, who are left unimmunized, are immunized in these health camps. Blood tests, Urine test &weight measures for pregnant women are also done for free in the health camps.
Community Meeting
Community meeting is done in each block to make the health and sanitation better with the guidance of Government of India. We organise such type of meeting in the all block we work in. We need to strengthen community meetings so that committee may get active and take the responsibility of health and sanitation in their village. In year 2018–19, we have organised 12 community meetings.
Mother/ Father/ Adolescent Girls/ Boys meeting
The main purpose of this activity is to take out all the myths which are spread in the community & to make aware all the community about the real facts. In this meeting many people ask questions and gets aware about the real facts. In the year 2018–19, Total of 661 mother /Adolescent. Girls meetings are organised till the month of March 2019, in which 5288 mother /Adolescent. Girls have participated.
I.P.C.
The main motive of this activity is to solve problem of mothers and aware and motivate them for immunization. It is done between CMCs and mothers by visiting houses one by one. In year 2018–19, 14568 IPCs have taken part to develop the awareness of immunization in pregnant women.
BEHAVIOUR CHANGE COMMUNICATION ACTIVITY
ASHA Coordination meeting
This activity is done to strengthen AAA i.e. ASHA, AWW & ANM along with the CMCs, so that they may provide better hospitality to the community by working in a good coordination with each other. Such as, making due list, Mother and child tracking etc. In year 2018–19 we have organized 8 ASHA coordination meetings till the month of March 2019, in which 33 ANM, 78 ASHA, 106 AWW and 54 CMCs took part.
Kuk-du-ku Rally
This rally is conducted to promote the habit of doing toilet in the permanent urinals instead of doing it in open land. In this activity we spread the awareness of permanent toilets by making a kuk-du-ku rally which is made by school children. In year 2018–19, total 161 kuk-du-ku rallies have been done till the month of March-19, in which 3220 children has taken part.
Masti ki kaksha
This is a fun learning activity; in this activity we teach children that disposal of garbage must be done in the garbage bins and nowhere else, teeth cleaning and hand wash is also a part of this activity. In year 2018–19, total 270 Masti ki kaksha have been done till the month of March 2019, in which 5400 children have taken part.
VHSNC Meeting
VHSNC meeting is done in each village to make the sanitation better with the guidance of Government of India. We organise such type of meetings in all the villages we work in. We need to strengthen VHSNC meetings so that committee may get active and take the responsibility of sanitation in their village. In year 2018–19, we have organised 77 VHSNC meetings in three blocks.
Khushi Express Van
The main purpose of this activity is to take out all the myths which are spread in the area& to make aware all the community about the real facts.The main motive of this activity is to solve problem of Community aware and motivate them for immunization. In year 2018–19, we have covered 64 areas in four blocks.
NukkarNatak
Under this activity we teach community to aware for immunization with help of Government of India. We organise such type of Nukkar natak in our four block we work in. we need to strengthen Nukkar Natak so that committee may get active and take the responsibility to sanitation in their village. In year 2018-2019, we have organised 8 areas in four blocks.
Capacity Build of Asha Training
This activity is done to strengthen Asha & Asha Sanghni along with the CMCs, so that they may provide better Communication to the community by working in a good coordination with each other. Such as, making due list, Mother and child tracking etc. We organised type of Capacity build of asha training in our four block we work in. 2018–19 we have organized 4 Asha capacity build training. In which 74 Asha took part.
CMC Sakhi Meeting
In this meeting CMC sakhi takes part along with CMC, BMC & DMC. In this meeting we discuss all key discussion regarding child immunization, sanitation, health & help to CMC for aware the community. In year 2018–19, total 9 CMC Sakhi have been done till the month of March 2019.
BMC Review Meeting
In this meeting all our staffs takes part along with the Director – MSS, & Secretary – MSS. In this meeting we discuss all the key discussions of all 4 blocks. After discussion of the key points we discuss action points, in order to seek out the problem. We also do power point presentations from all the BMCs of all four blocks from which we can see how things are going in all the blocks. This activity is done to improve the capability of all the staff. Total 12 BMC has been done till the month of March 2019.
CMC Induction Training
Every year follow up trainings are organized for all the CMCs for updating the immunization methods/schedules. These trainings are imported to the CMCs by the senior project staff after getting trained by CRS/CORE. This year also such trainings were given to all the CMCs. Also during the year all the new CMCs number 54 were given three days induction training in a city hotel to get them acquainted with the all the immunization methods.
Conclusion:
Total of 1531 children for Hep-B birth dose, 4985 children for BCG, 2265 children for DPT& Penta, 4470 children for OPV’0’ are immunized by our Meerut Seva Samaj. These immunizations help them fight against Tetanus, Diphtheria, Hepatitis B, Polio, pertussis, Tuberculosis & J.E. which are all fatal diseases.This is an important and good work to do & we all are proud of our work.
